Born and raised in Melbourne, Victoria, Tom Evans was immersed in sports from a young age, with tennis being his primary focus. He began playing tennis at three years old, eventually achieving a junior ITF ranking of 170 and securing a position among the ATP 1000 and ITF Men’s Top 4 globally. In late 2023, Evans discovered pickleball and was immediately captivated by its dynamic nature.
Within weeks, he secured his first PPA event victory in Sydney, followed by another win shortly after, quickly establishing himself as Australia’s number one in singles. His rapid success in pickleball led to multiple NPL wins across singles, doubles, and mixed doubles categories, including a victory in the NPL Team League Season 1. In early 2025, Evans and his partner, Helena Spiridis, signed exclusive contracts with the United Pickleball Association, marking the first Australian players to do so.
This milestone allowed them to compete in the Carvana PPA Tour and Major League Pickleball in the United States, signifying a new chapter in their athletic careers. Evans’s playing style is characterized by aggressive shot-making and strategic positioning, making him a formidable opponent on the court. His dedication to continuous improvement and his adaptability to different playing styles have contributed to his rapid rise in the professional pickleball scene.
