Raised in the Pacific Northwest, Sarah Ansboury was immersed in sports from an early age, excelling in tennis and achieving a 5. 5 rating. Her passion for tennis led her to become a USPTA-certified instructor and an NCAA coach, where she honed her skills and developed a deep understanding of competitive play.
In 2014, while seeking a new challenge, Sarah discovered pickleball and was immediately captivated by its dynamic nature and strategic depth. This newfound enthusiasm prompted her to delve into the sport, leveraging her extensive tennis background to quickly adapt and excel. By 2015, Sarah had fully embraced pickleball, participating in her first national tournaments and securing both Gold and Silver medals at the Tournament of Champions.
This early success marked the beginning of a promising career, as she continued to refine her skills and gain recognition in the pickleball community. Her dedication and rapid progression led to her appointment as the Director of Pickleball Instruction at Palmetto Dunes in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, where she played a pivotal role in expanding the facility’s pickleball program from eight to 24 lighted courts. Under her leadership, Palmetto Dunes was honored as the “Pickleball Resort of the Year” by Racquet Sports Industry Magazine in 2020, a testament to her commitment to the sport’s growth and her exceptional coaching abilities.
Beyond her playing career, Sarah has been instrumental in shaping the future of pickleball education. As the Education Consultant and Lead Clinician for the Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR), she developed the organization’s curriculum and certification programs, significantly impacting the training and development of pickleball coaches worldwide. Her efforts have been recognized with her appointment as the Managing Director of PPR, where she continues to influence the sport’s evolution on a global scale.
