Growing up in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Rachel Rettger was immersed in a family passionate about tennis, which naturally led her to the sport from an early age. She attended Glenbard South High School, where she not only excelled in tennis but also in badminton, achieving state-level success in both sports. Her dedication continued at Elmhurst University, where she played collegiate tennis for four years, earning a degree in biochemistry and a master’s in business administration.

After college, she served as a graduate assistant coach at Elmhurst, further honing her understanding of the game. In 2020, a friend introduced her to pickleball, and she quickly embraced the sport, participating in her first tournament, the Chicago Open, that same year. Rachel’s transition to professional pickleball was marked by rapid success.

In December 2021, she and her partner Casey Cullen secured the mixed doubles title at the Margaritaville USA Pickleball National Championship held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California. Reflecting on the achievement, she expressed, “I feel like this has to be up there as one of my favorites (accomplishments), if not my favorite. ” Her performance in this tournament highlighted her adaptability and competitive nature, traits that have propelled her in her professional career.

By May 2025, she had participated in 15 professional tournaments, accumulating 92 matches, and was a member of the Atlanta Bouncers in Major League Pickleball’s Premier League. Her dedication to the sport is also evident in her role as a Sales and Marketing Associate at JOOLA, a company that sponsors her. As of November 2025, Rachel Rettger continues to compete at a high level, with rankings of #51 in Doubles, #41 in Mixed Doubles, and #139 in Singles on the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) Tour.

Her playing style is characterized by a powerful court presence and strategic play, attributes that have been recognized by her peers and coaches. Looking ahead, Rachel remains committed to advancing her skills and contributing to the growth of pickleball, aiming to inspire others with her journey from tennis to becoming a rising star in the pickleball community.
