Growing up in Ashland, Massachusetts, Max Freeman was a standout tennis player, earning a scholarship to Vanderbilt University where he achieved a singles ranking as high as No. 112 and a doubles ranking of No. 19, even defeating future ATP star Ben Shelton in straight sets.

After completing his Master’s in Marketing in 2022, Freeman transitioned to pickleball, training with former tennis professionals James Ignatowich and Ryan Fu in Boca Raton, Florida. His professional debut came in April 2024 at the Association of Pickleball Players (APP) Delray Beach Open, where he quickly made an impression with his left-handed play and two-handed backhand. By late 2024, Freeman had reached the quarterfinals at the PPA Virginia Beach Open, partnering with Casey Diamond to secure a dominant win over Jaume Martinez Vich and Tyson McGuffin.

In 2025, he continued to make his mark, achieving a notable victory over Jack Sock in the men’s singles quarterfinals at the PPA Veolia Cape Coral Open, winning 2-0. He also secured a dominant 11-2, 11-8 victory over Jay Devilliers in the opening round of men’s singles at the PPA Tour CIBC Texas Open. Known for his aggressive style and quick footwork, Freeman has become a formidable competitor on the PPA Tour, with a career win rate of 41.
