Born and raised in Guangzhou, China, Lingwei Kong developed a strong foundation in tennis, competing as a touring professional on the ITF Tour in Asia from 2016 to 2018. Seeking both athletic and academic advancement, she moved to the United States in 2019 to join Wichita State University, where she played No. 1 singles and doubles for the Wichita State Women’s Tennis Team.
Her transition to pickleball began in late 2022 when she was introduced to the sport through the PPA community in Wichita. With her strong background in tennis, she quickly adapted to the nuances of pickleball, demonstrating remarkable hand-eye coordination, strategic shot-making, and an impressive ability to cover the court. Recognizing her potential, Kong turned professional in July 2023 at the PPA Tour’s Seattle Open, marking the beginning of what promises to be an impactful career in the sport.
Since then, she has participated in multiple professional tournaments, showcasing her adaptability and competitive spirit. As of November 2025, she has competed in 40 professional tournaments, playing a total of 177 career matches, with a career win rate of 32. 2%.
She currently plays for the New York Hustlers in Major League Pickleball. Known for her aggressive playing style, Kong utilizes her tennis background to execute powerful serves and precise volleys, making her a formidable opponent on the court. Her dedication to the sport is evident in her rigorous training regimen, which includes regular practice sessions and a focus on improving her reflexes and conditioning.
