Born and raised in Teruel, Spain, Judit Castillo developed a passion for sports early in life, excelling in tennis during her youth. Her talent earned her a scholarship to Northwestern State University in Louisiana, where she competed in the Southland Conference, amassing 54 career wins and tying for eighth all-time in the program’s history. After graduating, Castillo served as the Director of Fitness and Assistant Tennis Pro at Pierremont Oaks Tennis Club in Shreveport, Louisiana, before becoming the Head of Racket Sports and Fitness at East Ridge Country Club.

While teaching tennis in Shreveport, she first heard about pickleball but didn’t explore it seriously until October 2022. Her curiosity quickly turned into obsession, and by February 2023, she had quit her job to pursue pickleball full-time. Castillo’s rapid adaptation to the sport was remarkable; she won her first local tournament at Pierremont Oaks just one day after her initial practice session.

Her tennis background gave her a natural edge in pickleball, particularly in singles play, where her agility, court awareness, and powerful groundstrokes shone. Castillo’s commitment to training, playing six days a week, accelerated her rise in the professional ranks. She signed with Selkirk Sport as an “Emerging Pro” and began competing on the APP and PPA Tours, as well as Major League Pickleball (MLP).

Since turning professional, Judit Castillo has achieved impressive milestones in pickleball. As of March 2025, she has competed in 52 professional tournaments, participating in 415 pro matches.
