Helena Jansen was born and raised in Palamós, Spain, where she began playing tennis at the age of seven. Her dedication to the sport led her to achieve a ranking of 190 in the ITF Juniors Circuit. In 2019, seeking new challenges and opportunities, Helena moved to the United States to further her athletic and academic pursuits.
She enrolled at Appalachian State University, where she quickly made her mark as the team’s number one player. Throughout her collegiate career, she earned multiple Sun Belt Tennis Player of the Week honors and was named to the All-Conference First Team Singles. Her exceptional performance also earned her a nomination for the NCAA Woman of the Year in 2023.
Alongside her athletic achievements, Helena excelled academically, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and pursuing a Master’s in Communication. In September 2023, Helena discovered pickleball, a sport that quickly ignited her competitive passion. By February 2024, she had fully committed to the sport, making her debut on the PPA Pro Tour in April.
Within her first year as a professional, she climbed the ranks to become the #25-ranked singles player in the PPA, secured a win against a top-8 player, reached a semifinal, and finished fourth in a major event. Her impressive trajectory was further solidified when she was drafted by The Ranchers for MLP 2025, marking a new milestone in her professional career. Helena’s rapid rise in the pickleball world is a testament to her athletic prowess and unwavering dedication.
Her background in tennis has provided her with a strong foundation, allowing her to adapt quickly and excel in pickleball. As she continues to compete at the highest levels, Helena remains focused on her goals, aiming to secure major titles and further establish herself as a leading figure in the sport.
