Eric Roddy grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he was actively involved in baseball, basketball, football, and tennis. By age 12, he focused solely on tennis, attending Sewanee: The University of the South, a Division III school in Tennessee, where he earned All-American honors in doubles and achieved a national ranking as high as #2. After college, Roddy coached tennis in A Coruña, Spain, and served as the Interim Men’s Head Tennis Coach at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania.

In 2020, while pursuing an MBA at the University of Georgia, he was introduced to pickleball by Drake Bernstein, a former professional player, who taught him the game’s fundamentals and strategy. This experience reignited his passion for competition and led him to pursue professional pickleball. In 2022, after completing his MBA, Roddy moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, to focus on his professional pickleball career.

He began competing in various tournaments, partnering primarily with Jim Dobran in men’s doubles. His dedication and performance earned him a contract with the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) in the fall of 2023. Throughout his career, Roddy has balanced his athletic pursuits with a full-time position at Bank of America, demonstrating his commitment to both his professional and athletic endeavors.

He continues to compete in PPA events and contributes to the pickleball community through coaching and writing, sharing his insights and strategies with players of all levels.
