Born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, Anderson Scarpa’s athletic journey began with a strong foundation in tennis. He played Division I tennis at Mercer University in Georgia, where he honed his skills and developed a competitive edge. After completing his collegiate career, Scarpa served as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the Mercer tennis team for two years, further deepening his understanding of the sport.

Post-graduation, he joined the family business specializing in resurfacing tennis courts. It was through this work, particularly painting pickleball lines, that he discovered and developed a passion for pickleball. This serendipitous encounter led him to explore the sport further, combining his tennis background with the emerging game of pickleball.

Scarpa began playing pickleball in 2020 and started competing in tournaments in 2021. His background in tennis provided a solid foundation for his pickleball career. He has participated in 55 professional tournaments, accumulating over 300 career matches as of May 2025.

Anderson has achieved notable success on both the APP and PPA tours. He has secured multiple medals in men’s doubles, mixed doubles, and singles events. Some of his career highlights include: Gold medal in men’s singles at the New England PPA Challenger, Gold medal in men’s doubles at the same event, Gold medal in mixed doubles with partner Angie Walker.

He has also recorded victories over top-ranked players such as Pablo Tellez, Tyson McGuffin, and Collin Johns. Scarpa has been an active participant in Major League Pickleball, playing for several teams including the California Black Bears, Las Vegas Night Owls, Texas Ranchers, and currently, the Nashville Chefs. His adaptability and team-oriented approach have made him a valuable asset in the league.

Off the court, Anderson is married to his wife, Alana. The couple has a daughter named Alivia, born in 2022, and they are expecting a son later in 2025. This growing family adds a personal dimension to his professional endeavors, balancing his athletic commitments with family life.
