Alex’s Profile

Alex Neumann grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he played competitive junior tennis. After high school, he attended Northwestern University, where he joined the varsity tennis team’s practice squad. In 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Neumann was introduced to pickleball by his birth mother, who had been playing the sport.

Recognizing the similarities between tennis and pickleball, particularly in footwork and hand-eye coordination, he decided to pursue pickleball seriously. This decision marked the beginning of his professional journey in the sport. Neumann turned professional in 2022 and has since competed in numerous tournaments, showcasing his quick movements and powerful forehand shots.

His aggressive style, focusing on net play and spin, has made him a formidable opponent. In 2023, he had a notable performance at the PPA Riverland Open, defeating several top players, including Tyler Loong, Hayden Patriquin, and Jay Devilliers, before facing Tyson McGuffin in the semifinals. Off the court, Neumann is sponsored by Avi Athletics and has partnerships with companies like THORLO®, the official sock provider for the PPA Tour.

He also works for Via, a tech company in New York, and is the owner of Backyard Pickleball Builders, a company that designs and builds pickleball courts. As of November 2025, Neumann has competed in 32 professional tournaments, played a total of 106 career matches, and has a career win rate of 34. 9%.

His current DUPR ratings are 6. 321 in singles and 6. 072 in doubles.
