Daniel’s Profile

Growing up in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Daniel De La Rosa was immersed in a sports-centric environment, with soccer and racquetball being his primary interests. His family’s encouragement and his own dedication led him to pursue racquetball professionally at the age of 15, marking the beginning of a promising athletic career. His early exposure to racquetball set the foundation for his future successes in the sport.

In 2013, at 19, he transitioned to full-time professional racquetball, relocating to the United States to enhance his training and competition opportunities. This move was pivotal, allowing him to compete at higher levels and gain international recognition. His commitment to the sport was evident as he secured his first professional tournament victory in 2014, defeating Álvaro Beltrán in the final of the New Jersey Open.

This win was a significant milestone, establishing him as a formidable competitor on the International Racquetball Tour (IRT). His dedication and skill culminated in 2021 when he became the first Mexican player to win the US Open, a landmark achievement in his career. This victory not only highlighted his prowess but also marked a historic moment for Mexican racquetball.

In 2022, he continued his dominance by securing the IRT’s No. 1 ranking for the second consecutive year, underscoring his consistent performance and leadership in the sport. In 2023, De La Rosa made a strategic decision to switch his international allegiance from Mexico to the United States, aiming to broaden his competitive opportunities.

This transition was marked by his participation in the USA Racquetball National Championships, where he achieved notable success. He clinched the Men’s Doubles title alongside Alejandro Landa, defeating the Bredenbeck brothers in a thrilling five-game match. Additionally, he secured the Men’s Singles Championship, showcasing his versatility and adaptability across different formats.

These accomplishments not only solidified his reputation in the racquetball community but also demonstrated his ability to excel in high-pressure environments. Parallel to his racquetball achievements, De La Rosa began exploring pickleball, a sport that had been gaining popularity. His initial foray into pickleball was casual, playing with friends in Arizona in 2016.

Recognizing his aptitude for the game, he began to compete professionally in 2021, quickly making a name for himself in the pickleball community. His rapid ascent was marked by his participation in Major League Pickleball (MLP), where he played for the Austin Pickleballers and the Dallas Pickleball Club, securing two MLP titles: the Advil Targeted Relief MLP Mid-Season Tournament in July 2024 and MLP San Clemente in June 2023. These victories highlighted his adaptability and skill in transitioning from racquetball to pickleball.

In July 2024, De La Rosa signed a three-year contract exclusively with the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA), signaling his commitment to the sport. His involvement in MLP continued with the Brooklyn Aces, where he played a pivotal role in their success, contributing to their Challenger Level title and a $30, 000 prize. This achievement underscored his impact on the sport and his ability to lead teams to victory.

As of November 2025, De La Rosa continues to compete at a high level in both racquetball and pickleball, balancing his commitments and striving for excellence in both arenas. His journey reflects a dedication to sportsmanship, adaptability, and a relentless pursuit of success.
