Born in American Samoa, Pesa Teoni moved to St. George, Utah, at the age of 15. Upon his arrival in the United States, he faced the challenge of not speaking English, which required a steep learning curve.
While living with his aunt in St. George, Teoni was introduced to pickleball in 2016 by his uncle. Prior to discovering pickleball, he was actively involved in competitive sports such as soccer, volleyball, and rugby, but had no background in racquet sports.
His athletic versatility and commitment allowed him to quickly adapt and excel in pickleball. Teoni began participating in pickleball tournaments shortly after taking up the sport, progressing from 3. 0 to 5.
0 levels and securing medals along the way. He decided to join professional tournaments following the COVID-19 pandemic. Teoni has achieved notable success in men’s doubles, including fourth and fifth-place finishes at the Red Rock Open with partner Daniel de Rosa, and winning three gold medals with Andrei Daescu.
As of June 2025, he holds rankings of #49 in singles, #36 in men’s doubles, and #57 in mixed doubles on the PPA Tour. Teoni has competed in 54 professional tournaments, participating in a total of 242 career matches.
