Lauren Stratman grew up in Santa Barbara, California, where she developed a passion for sports at an early age. Before transitioning to pickleball, she had a strong background in tennis, playing Division I college tennis at Columbia University and Westmont College. Her transition to professional pickleball was swift, and she soon became one of the sport’s most recognized names.
In 2018, after some of her tennis students introduced her to pickleball, she played her first tournament in February 2019. Her competitive spirit and adaptability allowed her to quickly excel in the sport. In 2020, she made the decision to pursue pickleball professionally, leaving her tennis coaching career behind.
This move marked the beginning of a promising journey in the pickleball world. Since then, she has become a well-decorated player, earning multiple silver and bronze medals on the PPA Tour. Her dedication and skill have made her a formidable opponent in both singles and doubles competitions.
As of November 2025, Lauren Stratman maintains high rankings in the professional pickleball circuit, holding the #4 spot in Mixed Doubles, #5 in Women’s Doubles, and #6 in Women’s Singles. Her aggressive and well-balanced playing style, combining powerful groundstrokes with sharp net play, has been a key factor in her success. She is known for her powerful forehand, quick reflexes, strategic play, and strong court coverage.
Off the court, Lauren is engaged to fellow professional pickleball player Julian Arnold. The couple shares a deep connection both on and off the court, often partnering in mixed doubles competitions. They met at a tournament when they were younger and reconnected about two years ago.
Their relationship has been a source of support and motivation in their professional careers. Lauren’s commitment to the sport and her personal life reflects her dedication and passion for pickleball.
