Donald Young was born on July 23, 1989, in Chicago, Illinois, to parents Illona and Donald Sr. , both tennis teaching professionals. He began playing tennis at the age of three, quickly showcasing his talent and passion for the sport.

By 2005, at just 16 years old, Young achieved the world No. 1 junior ranking, becoming the youngest male to do so. His junior career was marked by significant achievements, including winning the Australian Open Junior Championships and the Wimbledon junior title in 2007.

These accomplishments set the stage for his professional career, where he turned pro in 2004 and reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 38 in February 2012. Throughout his tennis career, Young demonstrated resilience and skill, competing in multiple Grand Slam events and achieving notable victories.

In 2017, he reached the final of the French Open in men’s doubles, partnering with Santiago González. After over a decade in professional tennis, Young transitioned to pickleball in 2022, bringing his athleticism and competitive spirit to the sport.
