Collin Johns grew up in Laytonsville, Maryland, as the eldest of seven siblings, including his brother Ben, who would later become a prominent figure in the pickleball world. Before embracing pickleball, Collin pursued professional tennis, achieving a career-high ATP ranking of #978 in singles and #939 in doubles. His transition to pickleball began in 2018, and by 2019, he made a significant impact by reaching the semifinals in Men’s Pro Singles at the US Open.

This early success marked the beginning of his rapid ascent in the sport. Over the subsequent years, Collin’s dedication and strategic acumen propelled him to the top ranks in both singles and doubles. His partnership with Ben Johns proved particularly fruitful, with the duo securing 33 professional titles together, including back-to-back US Open crowns in 2021 and 2022.

Their collaboration concluded in 2024, after which Collin continued to excel in men’s doubles, maintaining a top position on the PPA Tour. Known for his right-side play, Collin’s style is characterized by a combination of grit, solidity, and pop, which he attributes to his background in tennis and table tennis. His favorite shots include reset blocks and forehand dinks, techniques he adapted from his previous experiences in other racquet sports.
